Mississinewa
is enjoying its best season in a generation. The Indians are currently
undefeated at 11-0 heading into the annual battle with Marion. Still, the CIC
championship is far from a sure thing. That is because the specter of Garth
Cone and his Alexandria Tigers is on the horizon. Alexandria currently stands
10-4 and is also undefeated in league play. The showdown is scheduled for
January 29th at Alexandria. Madison-Grant continues to lurk in the
standings with only one loss in conference. That came to Mississinewa before
the first of the year.
The girls’
race appears headed for a final game showdown. The powerful Golden Eagles of
Oak Hill currently share the lead with Blackford. Both squads are 3-0 in league
play. That contest is February 4th at Blackford. Madison-Grant has
only one loss in league play, that to Oak Hill, but they are only 4-9 on the
year overall. Meanwhile, Oak Hill stands 11-2 with the two losses coming in
triple overtime at Taylor and by three points to Kokomo. Blackford is 10-4 at
this point on the campaign.
